Benidorm informs three PRI hoteliers for which it will receive dotacional floor and economic compensations

07 February 2017
Benidorm informa tres PRI hoteleros por los que recibirá suelo dotacional y compensaciones económicas

The Environmental Commission welcomes the proposals, based on amendment number 1 of the General Plan

In exchange for these compensations the size of rooms and common areas will be able to be expanded

The Commission for Strategic Environmental Assessment of the Benidorm City Council has reported favorably about the Internal Reform Projects (PRI) presented by three hotels in the city under the cover of the update of amendment number 1 of the General Plan, the Incentivation of Hotel Use. In these PRI is collected the economic compensation and / or on the floor that each hotel will make to the City in exchange for increasing the surface of their rooms or common areas.

The councilwoman for Town Planning, Lourdes Caselles, has pointed out that this Commission - a pioneer in the Valencian Community, chaired by the mayor and made up of municipal technicians in the areas of Architecture, Engineering, Legal Counsel and Environment - is "a municipal body for Which streamlines the environmental processing of plans and programs that affect detailed management and basically urban land ".

Among the procedure that this body can carry out, is to inform the projects of renovation, improvement and expansion of hotel establishments to determine if these works have environmental conditions.

Caselles has detailed that "through these favorable environmental reports we will be able to fully implement the urban planning of these PRI", for which the City Council will receive land on the same plot to expand sidewalks, or "economic compensation by valuing the Increase in the use of these hotels ".

In all, for these three projects it is estimated that the City Council will enter "about 300,000 euros" that will go directly "to the municipal heritage of the soil". With this money, the City Council "will be able to buy public resources or invest in those that the city needs most".

Finally, the councilwoman pointed out that with these works of renovation, improvement and expansion, the three establishments seek to increase their category, from three to four stars, or from four to four higher, "thus increasing the quality of the hotel plant" in Benidorm.
