The delivery of the material will be made on Tuesday at the six points arranged by the City Council

Benidorm increases the distribution of masks to young people born between 1994 and 2002

31 May 2020
Benidorm amplía el reparto de mascarillas a la población juvenil nacida entre 1994 y 2002

This initiative of the City Council was initially launched for schoolchildren born between 2003 and 2016, who have already begun to collect the material

Benidorm City Council has increased the distribution of masks to the youth population born between 1994 and 2002, according to the Mayor, Toni Pérez, who recalled that this municipal initiative already reaches all the registered schoolchildren in the city born between 2003 and 2016, about 9,000.

This gradual distribution started on Thursday, with the delivery of masks to school-age children born in 2015 and 2016, although by then the material had already been received by the beneficiary students of ‘Menjadors a Casa’ program. During yesterday's session, children born between 2011 and 2014 were attended; while on Monday, June 1, it will be the turn of minors born between 2003 and 2010, and on Tuesday it will be for young people.

Toni Pérez has indicated that “once the school population has been covered, we are in a position to attend to the youth population of Benidorm as well, providing them with masks so that their outings are safer, and even when the use of this protection system is mandatory for children of 6 years and older in any closed space for public use or that is open to the public, where it is not possible to maintain an interpersonal safety distance of at least two meters ”.

Regarding the delivery of the masks, the mayor recalled that it has been arranged that families of school-age minors can obtain them at the collection points that have been used for 'Menjadors a casa' program: La Casa del Fester , José Llorca Linares social center, Les Caletes Municipal Children's School and CEIPs: El Murtal, Ausiàs March and Els Tolls ”. Each educational center in Benidorm is assigned one of these collection points, which will be operational in the morning and afternoon from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The allocation of centers is as follows:

  • Casa del Fester: CEIP Leonor Canalejas, colegio Nuestra Señora de los Dolores e IES Pere Mª Orts i Bosch.
  • Colegio Ausiàs March: CEIP Miguel Hernández y Ausiàs March, e IES Bernat de Sarriá.
  • Colegio El Murtal: CEIP’s La Cala y El Murtal, e IES Mediterrània.
  • Centro Social ‘José Llorca Linares’: CEIP’s Aitana, Bautista Lledó y Vasco Núñez de Balboa, e IES L’Almadrava.
  • Centro Social ‘La Torreta’: CEIP’s Serra Gelada, Gabriel Miró y Mestre Gaspar López.
  • Colegio Els Tolls: CEIP’s Puig Campana i Els Tolls, e IES Beatriz Fajardo de Mendoza.

Regarding the youth population, schoolchildren from the private schools Lope de Vega, Costa Blanca and Waldorf and those registered in the city but who attend centers in other localities, may collect their masks at the point closest to their home.

These collection points will be attended by municipal staff and volunteers from the Collective Aid Network (#RAC).
