In the session will also be discussed the SDGs related to water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth and gender equality.
Benidorm hosts on October 27 a conference on ‘Hotel Sustainability and Social Responsibility’
Benidorm City Hall Assembly Hall will be the setting in which the conference "Hotel Sustainability and Social Responsibility" organized by Pedro Zaragoza Orts Chair of Tourism Studies at the University of Alicante will take place next Wednesday, October 27.
The conference, which will feature prominent speakers, will consist of three blocks in which the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 5, 6, 7 and 8 and the importance of being sustainable in the hotel industry to be a leader in the future. Toni Pérez, mayor of Benidorm, highlighted the work done in Benidorm "to walk the path of innovation, accessibility and sustainability, within the framework of SDG 17 on partnerships to achieve goals."
The first block will deal with SDGs 6 and 7, related to clean water and sanitation and affordable and clean energy. In this sense, the mayor highlighted the "efficiency in water management or the sustainability of travel that make Benidorm a proven example."
This first conference will be moderated by Celia Romero, coordinator of Benidorm Smart Office, and will have as speakers Antonio Pérez Collar, founder of Chance and Choices SL-Chao, David Martínez, responsible for Quality and Environment of Poseidón Hotels, José Luis Muñoz García, executive director of RH Hotels, and Javier Salvador, partner of The Fun Lab.
The second block will be used to analyze SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth) and SDG 5 (Gender equality) and will be attended by Leire Pajín, president of the Spanish Network for sustainable development, Irene Bajo, director of the Chair of Social Responsibility at the University of Alicante and Verónica Martínez, General Director of Labor. The debate will be moderated by Josep Ochoa, from the University of Alicante.
The third and last block will deal with hotel sustainability with the title of ‘Sustainable today, leader tomorrow’. It will include Pablo Torres, consultant for Torres Hospitality Consulting, Xavier Font, from the University of Surrey and Víctor Monzón, from Bioscore Certification. The table will be moderated by Mayte García, Head of Quality, Training and Projects of Hosbec.
The table will analyze the role of hotel companies as a key element in the chain of activity of the tourism sector, which occupy a role of special relevance in the application of social responsibility policies both for their contribution in terms of income and employment and for their impact environmental, economic and social ”.
The closing of the day will be carried out by Antonio Mayor, president of the Hosbec hotel association, Francesc Colomer, regional secretary of Tourism and Toni Pérez, mayor of Benidorm.
The mayor, in addition, has once again valued Benidorm Sustainable Tourism Plan "based on four axes that affect infrastructures, sustainable, environmental and socioeconomic growth, hygienic-sanitary safety and competitive transformation".
