The funds raised will serve to improve the lives of the population in this West African country
Benidorm hosts the 1st Benin-Africa Solidarity Gala of Messengers for Peace
Tonight, Meliá Hotel in Benidorm hosted the first Benin-Africa Solidarity Gala, organized by Somalma for the Messengers for Peace Foundation to raise funds to improve the living conditions and education of the children in this country.
The event was attended by Ángel García Rodríguez, 'Father Ángel', a Catholic priest and president of the NGO Messengers of Peace that acts, above all, in the protection of helpless children, the defence of women victims of sexist violence, the integration of people with physical or mental disabilities, homeless families, immigrants or in emergencies due to natural disasters and humanitarian crises.
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, attended the event along with a good part of the local government team and representatives of local solidarity institutions and associations such as the Rotary Club, Anémona, Faro de Alejandría, Hosbec, Cáritas councillors from other towns in the Marina Baixa or Dr Pedro Cavadas.
With the funds raised at the event, Messengers for Peace aims to strengthen its centre in Benin and help Beninese people in their less favoured provinces, always respecting their culture and human dignity. The NGO has different initiatives underway in this West African country such as the Cotonou Children's Joy Center, the Allada Child Protection and Reception Center, the child protection project in the Tchachégoy quarry, the construction of wells of water for the population or bringing electric lights to departments that still lack it.
