Benidorm hoses down the streets and waters gardens with treated water

11 March 2015
Benidorm ya baldea las calles y riega los jardines con agua depurada

The councillor indicated that the implementation of this phase will be imminent and will have a budget of around 140,000 euros. The project is currently under review by the municipal technicians and it will be risen for approval in the next Informative Commission.

The City Council wants to take concrete steps for efficiency in the management of water.

Finally, he advanced that the second phase of this project is alredy being studied which will mean more savings for water.

Footbath at Poniente beach

Furthermore, Marcet referred to the problem with the footbath at Poniente Beach that currently uses potable water. The councillor explained the current situation and he said, "when the works of Paseo de Poniente began by the Generalitat Valenciana, these works involved the removal of the seawater supplier for the footbath at Poniente beach". Thus, "it was necessary to connect the footbath temporarily with potable water to maintain the service for all beach users".

The Water Cycle councilor said that although the replacement project to supply the footbath is included, for various technical and administrative reasons, it was decided to exclude it and not delay the execution of the works of Paseo de Poniente. The Agencia Valenciana de Turismo could not affor to build another supplier for the footbath, so it had to be filed by Benidorm City Council. A year later, we have finally received official response to this request on 6 March 2015, and this has been favorable, but subject to a prior environmental processing unspecified to be resolved by the Department of Environment ".

Investment by Hidraqua

Finally, the councilman for Water Cycle advanced the investments that are planned to be implemented by the concessionaire of water supply, Hidraqua, whose award ends in 2017, and remaining to complete 1,294,482.07 euros, from the 17,926,500.00 initial euros.
