This week, paving begins on the avenue from the section of Paris street to Rome street, a section that includes a reclaimed water network

Benidorm ultima las obras del primer tramo de Montecarlo, mientras los técnicos estudian ya la segunda fase del proyecto para su licitación

The City Council plans to put out to tender the work between Roma and Berlin streets starting in April, with work to begin after the summer

The first phase of the renovation of Montecarlo Avenue, which includes the section between Paris and Roma streets, is entering its final stretch while municipal technicians are studying the project for the second phase. This was announced today by the Councilor for Water Cycle, José Ramón González de Zarate, who visited the site with the Mayor, Toni Pérez, and technicians from Hidraqua, the company commissioned by the City Council to carry out the project after the contracted firm abandoned it.

González de Zárate explained that "all the planned underground work is complete: the renovation of the drinking water, sewage, and stormwater networks; the installation of a reclaimed water system; and the implementation of the remaining services." With these works completed, "the paving work will now begin and will be completed next week, at which point the new lighting, trees, and landscaping will be installed." "By Easter," he emphasized, "this section of the avenue will be fully completed and available to residents and tourists."

The councillor recalled that "this is a comprehensive project with which we are improving the water infrastructure of one of the main arteries of Rincón de Loix and also the urban landscape, which gains not only in aesthetics but also in accessibility and comfort." Furthermore, "with this project, we are taking a further qualitative leap in sustainability by implementing a reclaimed water network to which homeowners' associations can connect for watering gardens or common areas, thereby reducing drinking water consumption and lowering costs."

And while the workers are finalizing these works, "the project for the second phase, the one that runs from Roma Street to Berlín, is already at City Hall and is being studied by the Engineering Department, a preliminary step towards its tender." The plan, according to the councillor, "is to give the green light to the tender in April so that the work can be awarded by September and begin after the summer."

González de Zárate pointed out that "given the large number of residential blocks and tourist apartments located in the area, during the high season there is significant traffic on this avenue, especially from public transport and non-public buses." Therefore, "the second phase of work will begin after the end of the summer," although "we have previously carried out emergency work on this section to repair damage to the roadway and sidewalks."
