Benidorm, in favor of peace and against the war in Ukraine

24 February 2023
Concentración en Benidorm por la Guerra de Ucrania

Benidorm City Council has joined this Friday, with a silent concentration of five minutes at the gates of the Town Hall, to the call that the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) has made to all local corporations so that, with that gesture, show solidarity with the victims of the war in Ukraine and demand peace and the restitution of the sovereignty of that country

This morning marks the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of that country and the members of the Municipal Corporation, together with individuals who have joined, have testified to their solidarity with the Ukrainian people and their millions of displaced persons. The silent rally also raised the restoration of peace and international democratic legality.

At the end of the concentration, the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, indicated "Benidorm's solidarity with the people of Ukraine and with the refugees who have found shelter in Benidorm" while wishing "urgency at the end of the conflict caused by the Russian invasion.” Pérez called for “the restoration of peace in Ukraine and the life in that country.”
