Toni Pérez: "Benidorm is a city that stands out for its innovation".

Benidorm hosted last night the celebration of the sixth edition of the New Talents National Swimwear Fashion Award organized, with the collaboration of the City Council, Mediterranean Fashion Beach.
In a competitive demonstration of ingenuity and professionalism, the young designer from Bilbao, Javier González Palacios, collected from the mayor, Toni Pérez, an award that will allow him to place himself among the elite of national haute couture.

On this occasion, of the 249 new talents registered, only eight shortlisted were able to exhibit their work in Benidorm. In addition to González, seven young people from all over Spain are fighting for the coveted trophy: Ainhoa Saliero, Ciudad Real; Emma Prieto, Plasencia; Cristina Villegas, Almeria; Encarni Espejo, Terrassa; Silvia Fernandez, Las Palmas; Raquel Lemons, Granada; and Tania Alonso, Soria.

Before the shows in competition, the catwalk exhibited the designs of the winner of the last fifth edition 2022, Tania Tiscar, who presented 'Sundown' and the proposals in swimwear from leading companies in the sector such as M47 Modas, Isla Bonita, Tresor, and Cuplé. While the jury members debated, the Portuguese Fabiana Thorres and the Brazilian-inspired Spanish Culo Culo did the same.

The night, in addition to the national award, rewarded Tania Alonso's creativity by including one of the models of her proposal 'Flor de Loto' in Manuel de Gator's collection. Encarni Espejo received the Ecobaño Sustainability Award and Emma Prieto won a well-deserved runner-up.

At the gates midnight, to close the event, Toni Pérez addressed the attendees to remind them that Benidorm is "a city that is committed to innovation" as demonstrated by the edition of the award that is "the challenge that Benidorm makes for the young people, for the national talent”.

The mayor congratulated all the participants, especially the winners. He specified that "it is everyone's obligation" to "offer an opportunity to new talents" so that they "stand out" and "even better" if they do so, they do in a unique city of iconic beaches “ideal for swimwear”.
