Benidorm distributes posters to the property administrations with the limitations on the use of elevators during the coronavirus

Benidorm City Council has sent to all property administrations in the city posters with the limitations of the use of elevators as a preventive measure against the coronavirus. The objective is that the administrations distribute them among the communities of owners that they manage for "public knowledge of all the neighbors", as explained by the mayor, Toni Pérez, who recalled that "the health authorities recommend as far as possible not to use the elevator as it can be a source of contagion ”.

Pérez clarified that "we are aware that in an eminently vertical city such as Benidorm, a more intensive use of the elevator is made and it is not always possible to do without it, so the poster also indicates the recommendations to follow to minimize the risk in case the elevator has to be used”. In this way, please use the stairs instead of the elevator. In cases where its use is essential, it is recommended to travel alone and press the buttons with the protection of gloves or using the keys. Once at home, intensive hand washing is recommended.

The mayor has indicated that "we have asked property administrations that once these informative signs have been printed, they should be placed in visible and transit places of the residents in each community to ensure that the indications reach all citizens."

In addition to the limitations of the use of the elevator, these posters also include other information of interest to citizens: a relationship of the time that the COVID-19 virus survives on different surfaces, and that ranges from 2 hours to 5 days.

From the City Council, stickers with all this information have also been edited, which are being placed by municipal workers in the entrance of the buildings, thus reinforcing preventive communication against the coronavirus.
