Benidorm City Council has begun the distribution of more than 16,000 masks among the school community of all educational centers in the city, as reported by the mayor, Toni Pérez. The distribution, made by municipal personnel, has reached all of the secondary schools and institutes -including the subsidized center and the two private ones-, as well as the municipal Conservatories of Music and Dance, Municipal Language School, School of Adults, Official School of Languages and UNED.
The mayor has specified that "these masks have been delivered both to students, as well as to teachers, administrative and service staff, thus encompassing the entire educational community present in the centers."
Toni Pérez recalled that “since the pandemic was declared, the City Council has carried out periodic distribution of masks among the population of Benidorm. In the first days of the restrictions lifting, these deliveries were organized by age ranges, with special attention to the most vulnerable population, thus ensuring the protection of those who needed it most. Subsequently, in the early stages of summer, a new distribution was made among those over 65 years of age and also among child and youth population, users of municipal facilities and educational, cultural or sports programs or activities organized by the City Council; as well as the students of municipal infant schools ”.
The City Council has completed the distribution of masks with the edition and delivery of posters to educational centers with general health recommendations for the prevention of Covid-19.
The mayor has stressed that "from minute one the care and attention of the school population has been a priority for the City Council, which has spared no resources or efforts in adapting schools to health guidelines and requirements, complying with the petitions transferred by the management teams for the beginning of the school year ”. "But in addition - he added - we have also attended to the needs that have been communicated to us later, arising from the daily operation of the centers." Likewise, prior to the beginning of the course, the City Council modified the cleaning contract for public buildings to reinforce the cleaning and disinfection of educational facilities.
