Since June 15, the beaches have registered 1.8 million users, and the accessible points have served more than 1,800

Benidorm deactivates the reservation platform for Levante beach on Monday and advances the closure of beaches at 9:00 p.m.

Benidorm desactiva el lunes la plataforma de reservas para la playa de Levante y adelanta a las 21.00 horas el cierre de los arenales

The subdivision of the sandy areas and the access and capacity controls are maintained

As of next Monday, August 31, Benidorm's Levante beach will operate without reservation, as it did until mid-July and as the rest of the city's beaches have operated since its reopening on June 15. This has been announced today by the mayor, Toni Pérez, who explained that "as of Monday the reservation web platform will be deactivated", as it is expected a decrease in demand on the beaches. In the same way, also from that same day, "the closing time of the sandy areas will be brought forward at 9:00 p.m."

At a press conference, Toni Pérez recalled that the beach planning project, Benidorm Beach Safety, is "since it was launched a living and modular project that has been adapted to the circumstances and reality of each moment", attending variables such as demand. It was precisely the increase in demand that led to the activation of the reservation platform on Levante beach on July 17. Since then, 167,012 parcel reservations have been formalized, 121,757 of them online, reaching 299,914 users in Levante in this period.

Now, with the foreseeable reduction in demand and occupation of the beaches, the reservation system is no longer necessary to "be able to guarantee, as we have done so far, that everyone enjoys our beaches in complete safety and tranquility."

The mayor has stressed that "when the day ends today, Benidorm's beaches will have reached 1.8 million users since June 15", a figure to which must be added the people who have accessed the beach to take a swim or walk between 07.45 and 08.45 hours or who have done so during the rest of the day until 9.00 p.m. without staying in the sand. Some data, he stressed, that "reveal the power of attraction of the beaches of Benidorm", which reached its peak occupancy on August 15 with 43,610 people.

Toni Pérez has also transferred the data on the use of the two accessible beach points in Levante -located at the height of Murcia Avenue- and Elche Park. In total, 1,830 people have been using these accessible points which, unlike other towns and destinations, have been operational at all times since the beaches reopened. Of the total, 1,649 users presented physical functional diversity; 158, intellectual functional diversity; and 23, sensory functional diversity.

The mayor has advanced that the accessible beach points will continue operating, as well as - at least until the end of September - the control of accesses and gauges on the beaches, which is provided by personnel from the concessionaire company for comprehensive beach management. Likewise, the subdivision of the sandy areas will also be maintained to guarantee safety distances between users.

Levante users profile

The statistics obtained through the reservation of plots indicate that 94% of the users of the Levante beach are of national origin, compared to 6% of foreigners. Among the users of international origin, the highest percentage corresponds to tourists from France, followed by the British, Portuguese, Italians and Belgians.

Regarding gender, 59.45% of the users have been women; and in age criteria, the most numerous ranges have been those of people between 40 and 59 years -29.38% - and from 25 to 29 years -24.63% -.
