Benidorm condemns the Russian invasion of Ukraine

26 February 2022
Ucrania

Benidorm City Council joins the institutional declaration of the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP), adopted unanimously yesterday, and unmitigatedly condemns the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Mayor Toni Pérez submitted to the Board of Spokespersons the statement in which they point out both the seriousness of the events and the violation of international law and, above all, the deaths of civilians and military personnel, as well as the risk of worsening of the situation, expressed yesterday afternoon by the Russian president.
Benidorm considers, and its mayor has stated so, that we are facing a de facto violation of International Law and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine that affects the principle of humanitarian peace.
In the city of Benidorm, a call is made to put an end to the invasion while expressing solidarity with the Ukrainian population and the commitment to collaboration and humanitarian action to protect the population and support Ukrainian citizens in the Valencian Community to the affected companies.
Benidorm, recalled Toni Pérez, is always for the defence of Peace, for International Law and diplomatic channels within the framework of the United Nations.
The city will illuminate Benidorm Castle this weekend with the colours of the Ukrainian flag as a show of solidarity with the Ukrainian people and the victims.
