David Ruiz obtains the first prize in the Music Contest, specializing in violin and will offer the opening concert of the next edition

Benidorm closes its XXXIV International Music Course, which has brought together more than 120 students from eight countries

Clausura Curso Internacional de Música

Benidorm said goodbye last night to the XXXIV International Music Course, which has brought together more than 120 students from eight countries for a week. The Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, presided over the closing ceremony that was held in the auditorium of the cultural center and was attended by members of the Corporation; the course director, José Fuster; the faculty of this edition; students; and music fans.

Before the closing recital, the Music Contest prizes were awarded, which in this edition has been developed in the violin modality. After the different auditions, among the three finalists, the jury decided to award the first prize to the young Valencian David Ruiz, who will be in charge of the inaugural concert of the XXXV International Music Course next year. The other two finalists of this edition were Aida Kerimbayeva and Anastasia Roslik, who obtained the second and third prizes respectively.

The winner, accompanied on piano by Liza Iarohinskaia, opened the closing recital last night with the interpretation of 'Gitana' by Fritz Kreisler, a mandatory piece during the final. The recital was completed by the performances of teachers Luis González -trumpet-, who premiered the work 'Aurora Borealis' by Allen Vizzutti together with Pepe Gallego -piano-; and Mariano García –saxophone- and Takahiro Mita –piano-.

During the act, the Councilor for Culture highlighted that the edition that closed yesterday is the first to be held in the cultural center that "the City Council equipped in record time" and that "first the students of the Conservatory and now those of the International Music Course have been able to enjoy".

Pérez pointed out that year after year this International Course is consolidated as "a benchmark for the beginning of the cultural summer in our city"; at the same time he influenced the "great link of Benidorm to music" with "a Conservatory and three bands with more than 600 students" from which "great professionals who are now playing around the world" have emerged.

Finally, and after assuring that a new edition of the Music Course and Contest is already being worked on, the councilor recalled that this initiative is an opportunity for local musicians who "can access teaching in their city with top-level teachers ” and share this experience and exchange knowledge with students from other locations and countries.
