Benidorm City Council is carrying out cleaning and clearing work in around 12,000 square meters in Serra Gelada area, specifically in the surroundings of Ti Ximo and l’Almadrava coves, La Creu and Torre de les Caletes. The Councilor for Public Space, José Ramón González de Zárate, explained that “due to the complexity of the orography of much of this area, we have had to resort to a company specialized in vertical works, which during the last three weeks has carried out environmental adaptation works, which have included the clearing of bushes, the pruning and enhancement of trees, as well as the collection of waste ”.

De Zárate has detailed that “due to the lack of maintenance by the Generalitat Valenciana, responsible for the Natural Park, we have performed in areas with a significant influx of visitors, which has grown progressively in recent years in line with the intervention actions: archaeological, accessibility and urban scene undertaken by the City Council ”. "We are also talking about an area of high ecological value, included within Serra Gelada Natural Park and in its surroundings, so this environmental adaptation is also key for the risk of fires", he added.

The councillor of Public Space has indicated that "in addition to improving the image, cleaning and clearing of the area will also facilitate access to emergency vehicles in case of need, as well as those assigned to the surveillance, cleaning and maintenance".

In the next few days the total data of tons of waste and pruning remains will be available. This action has involved an investment of 17,250 euros.
