Benidorm cemeteries, ready for All Saints festivity...

The use of a mask, safety distance, staggered accesses and capacity control are mandatory

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, the Councilor for Cemeteries, Ángela Llorca, and a delegation from the Corporation have visited the 'Mare de Déu del Sofratge' and 'Sat Jaume' cemeteries this morning to check the adequacy of the themselves and the planned operation, which this year takes on special prominence with the incidence of the pandemic and the need for hygienic and preventive measures.

In situ, the municipal representation has verified the operation adopted, from the Mayor's office on the 19th and which came into effect today, until November 2. Toni Pérez stressed that the fundamental thing is "to contribute, with the organization, to comply with the standards of self-protection and hygiene."

During the visit, it was possible to verify - and the mayor highlighted - both "the organization" and "the work" developed by the municipal teams for which "the cemeteries offer an unbeatable appearance" thanks, he highlighted "the constant effort" of the Cemeteries department.

At the end of the visit to both cemeteries, the mayor highlighted that "the entire plan, signaling, and safety and hygiene device is perfectly organized", stressing that "the length of time provided is sufficient so that as far as possible and at will, we can visit our deceased, have time for the visit and do it safely ”respecting the capacity of 186 people for the 'Mare de Déu del Sofratge' cemetery and 1,816 for that of 'Sant Jaume'

The Mayor's Office establishes the extended hours for the days between October 28 and November 2, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., the access control and capacity to the two cemeteries, the mandatory use of masks and gloves -if people use the fountains, ladders, buckets and other utensils available-, the maintenance of the safety distance in the enclosures, the follow-up of the marked circulation routes as well as the accesses and exits through differentiated points. Equally operational, the mayor stressed, are the cleaning and disinfection devices of the facility and public toilets, noting the special collaboration of the teams of the Cemetery Department, the Local Police and Civil Protection.

For access to 'Sant Jaume' cemetery, an access lane from CV-70 has been enabled since last Sunday, through the industrial estate, which will be operational until next November 5 and Line 5 of buses, which connects Benidorm with such cemetery, will operate a special bus service with extended schedules and frequencies between October 28 and November 2.
