Benidorm celebrates the World Book Day ’with a virtual reading of‘ Don Quixote ’open to citizens
Benidorm celebrates this Thursday, April 23, the World Book Day ’with a virtual public reading of‘ Don Quixote ’, to be held through the Zoom video conferencing platform. This initiative promoted by the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage will start at 10 am and is open to all citizens who want to participate.
The mayor, Toni Pérez, has indicated that "we believe that distance is not a barrier to speech and that is why in an exceptional situation of confinement such as the current one, we resort to technology to commemorate this anniversary." "A celebration," he added, "which we do not want to give up in these exceptional circumstances, at a time when precisely the books, whether in paper or digital format, have become for many of the population one of the main resources to alleviate and make confinement more bearable ”.
In order to organize this public reading correctly, those interested in joining it must previously communicate it via email to library@benidorm.org, indicating their name and contact. Before the start of the reading they will receive a link that will give them access to the videoconference.
To make this virtual reading easier for the participants, it has been decided to start reading ‘Don Quixote’ from the beginning instead of resuming it at the point where it was the year before.
The virtual public reading can be followed by 'streaming' through the multimedia platform of Benidorm City Council.
