Benidorm celebrates this week the festivities in honor of Sant Antoni Abat in the Hermitage of Sanz
Benidorm will celebrate this week the festivities in honour of Sant Antoni that will take place in L'Horta and the Hermitage de Sanç which have a long tradition and following in the city. From Wednesday to Sunday, the Commission has prepared a complete program of religious and festive events for the enjoyment of all residents.
On Wednesday the 17th, the festivity of Sant Antoni, a mass will take place at 8:30 p.m. in honour of the patron saint, officiated by the parish priest of the Hermitage, José Luis Rodes. The next day Plaza de la Ermita will be decorated and on Friday the 19th in the afternoon, at 7:30 p.m., the final of the Truc Cup will be played and at night, at 10:30 p.m., a party in the Commission tent with music by DJ Covita Pemán.
The bulk of the events will take place on Saturday the 20th, which will begin at eight in the morning with the 'despertá'. At 10:30 a pilot tournament will be held at the Vicente Pérez Devesa Trinquet and an hour later there will be a playground. At noon there will be the general ringing of the bells and fifteen minutes later a sardine party that will give way at 12:30 to the great children's 'balloons'.
In the afternoon, at 4:30 p.m. of pilota valenciana game will be held in the Trinket and at 5:00 p.m. the authorities, festive entities and neighbors will gather to begin the pilgrimage to the Hermitage, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. Afterwards, the offering and proclamation will take place by Vicente Fuster and the event will be closed by Mayor Toni Pérez. After this intervention, the queens and ladies will sing the traditional 'copletes' and at the end, the stampet and a fireworks display will be fired.
At 10 p.m. the 'pilota' trophy awards will be presented and the night will end with a party in the tent.
On Sunday the 21st it will begin at 10:30 with a mass in honour of the saint, officiated by the parish priest José Luis Rodes and at the end of the mass the animals will be blessed. The last act of the program will be the requiem mass that will be celebrated at the Hermitage of Sanç on Sunday the 28th for all the deceased.
