The day began with the opening in Espai d' Art at the Town Hall of the exhibition ' Equilibri in femení' with works of the artists Gemma Llinares Lloret , Vicenta Llinares Pérez and M ª Carmen Llinares Lloret is. An exhibition will run until March 21 .
After the opening of the exhibition was presented in the auditorium of the Town Hall the video 'International Women's Day ' . An initiative of the Department of Equality made by the Press Office of the Consistory and in the collaboration with Infodona Benidorm.
The mayor of Benidorm, Agustín Navarro , attended the event along with the councillor for Equality Angeles Valdivieso , the councillor for Tourism, Gema Amor , the councillors for Fiestas, Sports and Culture, Cristina Escoda , Miguel Llorca and Eva Mayor , and several members of the municipal corporation.
The councillor for Equality, Angeles Valdivieso stated that "it is our duty to work to be effective equal opportunities between men and women " and , for this reason , education and information is "essential" to achieve a society "fair and equal . " Valdivieso also took the opportunity to seek the support of all women to refuse the proposal of Abortion made by the minister Ruiz Gallardón .
For his part , the mayor pointed out that " when we look back it seems that is all done, but when we look forward we realize that we still have much to get , so we must continue to fight for real equality between men and women."
In the afternoon ,it is scheduled the screening of the short films " Libre directo" and " Sólo sé que no se nada " in the auditorium at 18:30 . After the short , the talk " Gynecological Prevention " , and then a performance by the Choir of Housewives Association .
