Previously, all services were installed and the width of the pedestrian zone was increased to make this road more accessible
Benidorm begins this week the renovation of the sidewalks of Bilbao avenue, which will follow Mediterráneo Avenue design
This same week the renovation works of the sidewalks on Bilbao avenue begin, which "will follow the same design as the recently remodeled Avenida del Mediterráneo", as advanced today by the Councilor for Works, José Ramón González de Zárate.
The councillor explained that "previously the drinking water and sewerage services that run under the sidewalks were renewed, and the pedestrian area was expanded on both sides of the street to gain accessibility, so that at the moment it only remains change the current tiles and place the same ones as on Avenida Mediterráneo ”.
In addition to the replacement of the pavement on the sidewalks, it is also planned to change the palm trees, since some were severely affected by an infestation of "red weevil" that deteriorated their condition.
This action will be carried out "in an approximate period of a month and a half", so "Avenida de Bilbao will be completely renovated for the start of the summer season, with an image and a more friendly, comfortable and accessible configuration".
De Zárate stressed that “by giving the pavement of Bilbao avenue the same design, material and characteristics that have been used in the Mediterranean, we are giving continuity to the pedestrian path that connects one of the main arteries of our city with the first line of our beach of Levante ”.
