The girl Beatriz García Bukareva has recited the verse next to the cross, adorned with flowers by the members of La Creu Association

Benidorm begins May with the traditional Festa de La Creu

01 May 2023
La Creu

Benidorm has started the month of May with the traditional Festa de La Creu, which has aroused the interest of hundreds of people who have gathered next to the terminus cross, located at the beginning of Emilio Ortuño Avenue, to listen to the verse that this year the girl Beatriz García Bukareva has recited. A cross that has been decked out in flowers since last night, a task that is carried out by the members of the Comissió Festa La Creu year after year.

The festive day began at 08:00 with a general ringing of bells in the church of Sant Jaume i Santa Anna. Around 11:00 a.m. a procession of festive entities and authorities moved in a pilgrimage from the church to the foot of La Creu, where the parish priest of Sant Jaume i Santa Anna blessed the municipal area.

In the pilgrimage participated, among others, the mayor, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; members of the municipal Corporation; the national deputy Agustín Almodóbar; the autonomous deputy Manuel Pérez Fenoll; the queens of the Festes Majors Patronals, Angélica Morenilla, and Daniela Talavera, together with their ladies; the presidents of the Comissió and the Penyes Association, Vicente Solaz; and Ramón Cano; as well as the members of the Festa de La Creu.

After the blessing and the verse, the procession left again for the church of Sant Jaume, where the offering of flowers and a mass took place.
