The City Council wants immediate action to be taken and to be informed about the expansion project

Benidorm asks the Health Council to meet urgently to analyze the situation of the Regional Hospital of La Vila

19 February 2018
Benidorm pide que el Consejo de Salud se reúna de urgencia para analizar la situación del Hospital Comarcal de La Vila

Benidorm City Council today has called for the urgent convocation of the Council of Regional Health to analyze the situation of the Hospital of Vila Joiosa and determine the measures to be taken immediately to solve the most pressing deficiencies that the health center presents.

The mayor, Toni Pérez, has requested this urgent meeting after this weekend part of the ceiling of a corridor on the third floor of the hospital fell off; an incident that, fortunately, did not cause personal injuries.

Pérez has indicated that "in addition to determining what are the urgent and unavoidable measures necessary to take and execute, we also want that in this meeting the heads of the Ministry of Health transfer truthful information about the project of expansion of the hospital".

In this regard, he recalled that "on May 3, 2017, and after more than a year talking about the expansion, in a Health Council we were presented with the architectural project, which collected the needs of the hospital center, and days later the councilor Carmen Montón announced a millionaire investment for our hospital. "

Since then "we have had little information, until very recently when, only through the media, we have learned that the Ministry plans to invest 3.6 million euros to tender the drafting of the reform and expansion project." However, "the Town Halls have not received any communication in this regard," so "this meeting of the Regional Council would be a better forum for us to transfer all the information about the future expansion and to take urgent measures that avoid new incidents in the current facilities ".
