Benidorm approves the project of urbanization of the vials of Sierra Helada

11 May 2017
Benidorm aprueba el proyecto de urbanización de los viales de Sierra Helada

The Governing Board will give green light to the document next week after rejecting the two allegations presented

The owners propose to assume the works as Grouping of Urban Interest

The Local Government Board will approve next week the project of urbanization of the vials of Sierra Helada, drafted by the municipal technicians and that has already passed the public exposure phase. The Councilor for Urban Planning, Lourdes Caselles, recalled that the project was also assessed in the Urban Scene Advisory Council in mid-February, and has clarified that it affects the streets of Japan, Korea, Hawaii, Taiwan and Tokyo.

Caselles has explained that so far these roads have no services and sidewalks. Thus, they do not have sanitation network, and the one of drinking water is inadequate and does not reach all the points of the envisaged building. In addition, these streets do not have public lighting, the paving is precarious, the road is in poor condition and the electric power grid is insufficient to meet the demand of the area.

Faced with this situation, and to try to get the area to urbanize as soon as possible, the municipal technicians have drafted this urbanization project, which during the public exposure phase has received two allegations: that of a telephone company and that of a private individual with soil in the zone. Both allegations have been rejected by the areas of Engineering and Urbanism.

In recent months, and in parallel with the drafting of the project, the City Council has held meetings with the owners who have shown their interest in setting up an Urban Interest Group to assume this urbanization. "There are already more than 60% of owners of the area" that support this option, informed the mayor. Caselles added that these owners "continue to get in touch with more to see if they are integrated into that Grouping of Urban Interest, which will be the one to carry out this urbanization" at no cost to the City Council.
