Benidorm Approves the First Round of School Grants for 3- to 5-Year-Old pupils to Purchase Educational Materials Worth €40,131
This is the first round of vouchers for pupils in the second cycle of pre-primary education (ages 3 to 5), with each child receiving €63 towards the purchase of school supplies
This round includes 637 grants awarded automatically to children born in 2021 and 2022, and can be collected from 3 August onwards.
Families have until 30 September to apply for them.
Benidorm City Council’s Department of Education has approved the first grants for the purchase of school materials for pupils enrolled in the second cycle of Early Childhood Education at the city’s thirteen public schools and one state-funded private school. The initiative aims to support families by reducing the cost of the “back-to-school” period.
These first vouchers, which can be collected from 3 August onwards, cover the grants for “the 637 children included in the first batch automatically processed by the Department of Education for boys and girls born in 2021 and 2022 who received the grant last year and who remain registered as residents and continue to meet all the other requirements,” explained the Councillor for Education, Maite Moreno.
Moreno recalled that, once again this year, the value of the grant is €63 per child. This amount means that “the City Council helps reduce the expense of school materials that families registered in Benidorm have to cover during this educational stage, in which schooling is not yet compulsory. Therefore, we are also helping to encourage early school enrolment,” she added.
To fund this grant scheme, Benidorm City Council has allocated a total budget of €70,000, of which €40,131 has already been awarded as part of this first batch.
As in previous years, the City Council has established different voucher collection points depending on the school attended by each beneficiary.
At the Education Department, located on the third floor of the City Hall, vouchers will be available for pupils from CEIP Gabriel Miró, CEIP Mestre Gaspar López and CEIP Leonor Canalejas, as well as pupils from the state-funded school Nuestra Señora de los Dolores. The administrative office in Els Tolls will handle the distribution of vouchers for pupils from CEIP Puig Campana and CEIP Els Tolls. Meanwhile, families of pupils from Bautista Lledó, Aitana and Vasco Núñez de Balboa schools will collect their vouchers from the Foietes-Colonia Madrid administrative office, located on Avenida de Beniardá.
The La Cala administrative office will be the collection point for families of children enrolled at CEIP La Cala and CEIP El Murtal; the Racó de l’Oix office will serve families from CEIP Serra Gelada; and the Alfredo Corral-Maravall administrative office will distribute vouchers for pupils from CEIP Ausiàs March and CEIP Miguel Hernández.
The voucher will only be handed over to the person who submitted the application. If someone else collects it, they must provide a signed authorisation from the applicant along with a photocopy of both identity documents. No duplicate vouchers will be issued in the event of loss, theft or damage.
The Councillor for Education also reminded families that the purchase vouchers can be used until 15 November at the six Benidorm shops that have joined this year’s initiative: Librería Contalles, Librería Ulises, Librería Francés, Espriu Benidorm, Gráficas Maravall and Bonitta Pickinpack.
Moreno also recalled that the application period for these grants “remains open until 30 September”, both for 4- and 5-year-old pupils who did not receive the grant during the 2023–2024 school year because they failed to meet one of the requirements, and for new 3-year-old pupils who will join classrooms this academic year. Applications must be submitted online through Benidorm City Council’s Electronic Office at https://sede.benidorm.org, by accessing the services catalogue, selecting EDUCACIÓN, and choosing the procedure: “Ayudas de Material Escolar 2º ciclo de Educación Infantil Curso 2025-2026”.
Moreno encouraged families with children in this age group to “check the lists published for each approved batch on the municipal website, especially this first one, which has been processed automatically by the Department of Education and covers a large number of children”, as “there is still time until 30 September to submit an application if the family situation has changed and they may have been excluded for any reason”.
Finally, she stated that in the coming weeks new lists will be published with the remaining grants awarded to children whose families submitted applications from 1 June onwards. These will be resolved in different batches, with the number of beneficiaries expected to exceed one thousand. A final batch will then be issued to address any appeals submitted.
