Benidorm allocates 8,000 euros in subsidies for cultural projects
The Local Government Board of Benidorm City Council has approved today the regulatory bases for the granting of subsidies to cultural projects that will allocate an expense of 8,000 euros to provide said subsidies. This expense represents an increase of 2,000 euros over last year's call.
The objective of this aid is to promote cultural activities organized by the city's cultural associations during the current year 2023 "to promote the cultural life of Benidorm and stimulate and support their projects and programming" explained the councilor of Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez. According to the rules, eligible activities must be related to themes such as music, theater, exhibitions, cinema, conferences, etc.
The approved bases establish that the beneficiaries of this call, that is, the local cultural associations, must meet a series of requirements such as being legally constituted and registered in the Registry of Associations of the City Council, reflecting in their statutes that their purposes include the carrying out, promoting or disseminating cultural activities in the city and having a stable, active and public headquarters or delegation open to the public in Benidorm.
The councilor explained that his department “is aware of the role that cultural associations play in the participation and dissemination of culture and the economic effort they make to develop their activities.”
Thus, the maximum amount of the subsidy to be awarded may not exceed the eligible expense of the project and, in no case, the maximum amount may exceed 1,000 euros per beneficiary, project, and call.
The money received from the subsidy may be used for current expenses derived from the development of the projects, current expenses for the normal operation of the association, and rentals of materials necessary for the development of activities and property rentals.
To grant the aid, an assessment commission will be formed by the Councilor for Culture as the president; an official from the Secretariat department will assume the functions of a member and an official from the Department of Culture will act as secretary.
Likewise, the subsidies will be made effective to the beneficiary entities upon presentation, within a maximum period of ten calendar days from the notification, of the supporting documents of the expenses incurred by the purpose of the subsidy and by the provisions of the resolution in the concession.
