Benidorm allocates 8,000 euros in grants to promote cultural projects
Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Culture, has approved a grant program aimed at promoting cultural projects with a total budget of 8,000 euros. This was announced by the Councillor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, who stated that the objective of these grants "is to promote cultural activities organised by associations" in the city throughout 2025 to "boost Benidorm's cultural life and stimulate and support their projects and programming."
Jaime Jesús Pérez explained that local cultural associations that meet a series of requirements will be eligible for these grants, such as being legally constituted and registered in the City Council's Registry of Associations for at least one year; reflecting in their bylaws that among their purposes is the organization, promotion, or dissemination of cultural activities in the city; or have a permanent, active, and publicly-available headquarters or branch in Benidorm, as stipulated in the rules governing the grant.
It also stipulates that eligible activities must be related to themes such as music, theatre, exhibitions, cinema, conferences, etc., and each beneficiary may be eligible for a maximum amount of €1,000. As in previous years, the grants received may be used for current expenses derived from the development of the projects, current expenses for the normal operation of the association, rental of necessary equipment for the development of activities, and/or rental of properties, the councillor noted.
The rules establish that, for the granting of grants, an evaluation committee will be established, which will be responsible for studying and evaluating all the projects submitted. Likewise, the grants will be distributed to the beneficiary entities upon presentation, within a maximum of ten calendar days of notification, of supporting documentation for expenses incurred in accordance with the purpose of the grant and the provisions of the award resolution.
Jaime Jesús Pérez emphasised that last year "a total of four cultural entities were eligible for these grants" and expressed confidence that this year "many projects will be submitted for subsidies."
