The balcony of Benidorm City Hall shows the solidarity golden bond with children with cancer
The initiative aims to give visibility to families suffering from the disease and show them the civil society support
Benidorm City Council has deployed this morning a banner with a gold ribbon and the logo of Aspanion (Association of Parents of Children with Cancer in the Region of Valencia), in solidarity with the small and family members who struggle against the disease. The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez together with the Councilor for Social Welfare, Angela Llorca; members of the different municipal groups and representatives of the local council of the collective, have placed on the main balcony the symbol where it will remain until the end of the month.
This initiative is part of the campaign 'Ignite hope! Turn it into gold! 'Sponsored by Childhood Cancer International, which in Spain coordinates the Federation of Parents of Children with Cancer, to which Aspanion belongs, and which will take place during the month of September. According to this association, every three minutes a childhood cancer is diagnosed somewhere in the world and in our country the disease is the first cause of death in children and adolescents from 1 to 14 years.
The councilwoman of Social Welfare has shown all their support from the City Council with Aspanion and has reflected on the pain that supposes for the family that some of its weakest members suffer cancer. Angela Llorca has committed to dedicate more resources to medical research so that "in the near future, it is not necessary to carry out campaigns because the cancer has finally been eradicated and does not affect families or children," she concluded.
