This morning, El Moralet Park hosted the sixth edition of the Doble Amor Charity Cross Country Race, organised jointly by the centre, Benidorm Athletics Club, and the Rotary Club, in collaboration with the Department of Sports. The race took place in a festive and supportive atmosphere. Around 500 people, including children and adults, participated in the various events, all with a common goal: to support the work of this occupational centre, which serves 50 people with intellectual disabilities in the region.

The Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, sounded the horn to start the race, accompanied by the Councillors for Sports and Social Welfare, Javier Jordá and Ángela Zaragozí; the President of the Doble Amor Association, José Luis Calvo; and numerous centre users. Later, the mayor and numerous members of the municipal council also participated in the cross-country race, in the Nordic walking and hiking categories, which took place after the race and before the children's races, which also attracted a large number of boys and girls.

Juanan Fernández, from the Benidorm Athletics Club, was once again the first to cross the finish line, with a time of 24 minutes 34 seconds. Following him were Rubén Suárez, also from the CAB (Benidorm Athletics Club), and Francisco Soliveres, from the El Faro Athletics Club, who covered the seven-kilometre course in 0:24:36 and 0:25:35, respectively. In the women's category, Rosa Pérez Chapoi won with a time of 0:32:36, followed by Celia de Dieg, from the Gladiators Benidorm Club, with a time of 0:34:14; and Isabel Villegas, third with a time of 0:34:40.

Likewise, the Benidorm Athletics Club was the largest in terms of number of participants, followed by CA El Faro, the Gladiators Benidorm club, and CA La Nucía.

The profits from this activity will be used to fund the activities carried out by the Doble Amor Association in the defence, protection, and training of people with intellectual disabilities in Benidorm and other municipalities in the region.
