Benidorm Andalusian House began its Rocío Chico celebrations last night with a Rociera mass in the church of Virgen de la Almudena, followed by a pilgrimage through the streets of the Foietes-Colonia Madrid neighbourhood to transport the image of the Virgen del Rocío to a tent set up on the Mercasa esplanade, where the festivities will continue throughout the weekend.
The Councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, participated in these events alongside other members of the Municipal Council; among them, José Ramón González de Zárate, also a regional representative, supporting the president of the Andalusian Council, Leonor Jiménez, and the entity's queens, Rocío Romero and Rocío Benavente, as well as the rest of the members and officials.
The queens of the Major Patron Saint Festivities, Paula Pascual Sánchez and Aitana Pérez Guitiérrez, also accompanied the representatives of the Casa de Andalucía, sharing many emotional moments with them, such as dancing and singing to the Virgin of Rocío to ask for her protection.
Throughout the weekend, the important Andalusian community of Benidorm will experience one of its most cherished festivals, combining devotion, culture, and rich cuisine. On Sunday afternoon, starting at 6:30 p.m., they will begin their journey back to return with the Virgin of Rocío to La Almudena church.
