Alicante University debates in Benidorm the relationship between foreign residents and the media
Throughout the day it has been celebrated in the municipal building of the Torrejó the conference about 'The relation between the foreign residents and the means of communication' that gathers professionals of the communication and the tourism. The meeting is organized by Pedro Zaragoza Orts Chair of Tourism Studies of the University of Alicante, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, University of Málaga, University of Algarve, Hosbec, Generalitat, Diputación de Alicante, Patronato de Turismo of the Costa Blanca and Benidorm Town Hall.
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, spoke during the inauguration to welcome the attendees and thanked the city's choice for the event. Benidorm is "an enclave," said Toni Pérez, "where fifty years ago many people who came from abroad found a paradise to live" and in which many continue "because they have known how to integrate" and even launched their own media that before they were "paper and radio" and have now been updated given the "leap to new technologies".
In the first part of the day, initiatives such as the I + D + i project 'Media and European construction: a socio-communicative study of community residents in Southern Spain and Portugal' by Juan Antonio García and Laura López; Analysis of the demographic data of the province of Malaga, by Jesús Delgado and the Portuguese Algarve, with Kate Torkington and Filipa Perdigao; The residential tourism of the Costa Blanca, coordinated by Tomás Mazón; and, finally, the cartographic representation of the foreign communities in the Costa del Sol and the Algarve, exposed by Juan Francisco Sortino.
The second block of work has developed the media aspects of Costa del Sol, with Genoveva Novas and Ashley Jáñez; Means of the foreign communities, by Antonio Cuarteo; And the case of the Portuguese Algarve, with Kate Torkington. Finally the conclusions have been presented.
Prior to the closing of the day, the round table 'Agents of communication to residents and foreign tourists on the Costa Blanca' was held, under the moderation of the journalist Alba Mercader (Alicante Plaza), which was attended by Hans Scheegluth (CB News and CB Nachrichten), James Parkes (CB News), Thomas Liebelt and Stefan Kippes (CB Nachrichten), Michelle Baker (Round Town Times) and communication professionals Lidia Bogomolova, Siri Lund and the journalist and geographer Juan Diaz.
