The Alzheimer's Muncial Day will be commemorated on Thursday 21 with the motto 'Sigo siendo yo' and the release of balloons

The Association of Alzheimer's Marina Baixa (AFA) together with the Department of Social Welfare organizes the fourteenth edition of its 'Alzheimer's Week' in Benidorm and the region. The events will start on Monday, September 18 and on Thursday 21 it will be the celebration of the World Day of this disease.

The Councilor for Social Welfare, Angela Llorca; the president of AFA, Garbiñe Mondragón; and Carlos García, a pharmacy graduate and member of the association, have presented a program that aims to make known to the public what the disease is suffering and the need to apply specific therapies and treatments that improve the life of the patient and the its environment. Angela Llorca has recalled that "if we do not have a relative, we always know someone" who suffers from Alzheimer's and has encouraged all citizens to participate this week.

The head of the municipal area of ​​Social Welfare has recalled that, for a few months, AFA has finally installed its headquarters in the Municipal Center 'Pepa Esperanza Llinares Llorca' in La Cala. From these municipal facilities the association is facilitated the development and promotion of its activities. In this regard, Mondragón has reiterated her gratitude to the municipal corporation. "We are very happy in Pepa Esperanza," she stressed. It has been fulfilled that Benidorm is a city in solidarity with Alzheimer's. " She also thanked the collaboration of the Department of Health directed by Ana Pellicer in the preparation of the program of activities.

Garbiñe Mondragón has detailed the program of the Week of Alzheimer's that will begin on Monday, September 18, at 6.30 pm in the Council Hall with the symposium 'Alzheimer, un problema de todos', moderated precisely by Carlos García, which will involve professionals, specialists in the disease and experts of the Brain Bank of Murcia, a 'biobank' of human biological samples dedicated to the research of neurological diseases.

The Alzheimer's Week will continue on Tuesday 19th, from 9:00 am, with an excursion to the Toy Museum of Ibi, Petrer and Santurario de la Magdalena. Wednesday 20 will be a day of coexistence with the rest of associations of Pepa Esperanza, from 10.30 hours. The main thrust of the program will be Thursday, September 21, the 'World Alzheimer's Day', which this year is presented throughout the country under the motto 'Sigo siendo yo'; this day will be lived in Plaza de SS MM los Reyes de España, at 12.00, with the release of 'The balloon of memories' and the installation of petitioning tables in Benidorm and Vila Joiosa. On Friday 22 there will be a yoga workshop at 10.30, at the association's headquarters, and in the afternoon, at 19.30 a religious act in Almudena church. Alzheimer's Week will come to an end on Sunday, September 24th, with the traditional solidarity meal, at 13.30 hours, at L'Almafra camping, with amusement for children, a drawing of gifts and the final performance of the group 'Seis pechugas y un pavo '.
