Juanan Fernández repeats on the podium, one more year, with a time of 18 minutes and 28 seconds
675 registered, new participation record in Doble Amor Solidarity Cross
This morning El Moralet Park hosted the fifth edition of Doble Amor Solidarity Cross Country with a new record of participation that, according to the organization, exceeds last year's participants by more than 200 people.
Around 9:00 in the morning, the participants began to gather outside Guillermo Amor Sports City, right at the beginning of El Moralet Park, in a festive atmosphere that predicted a day to remember.
The test, for the benefit of the Double Love Association, has been organized, with the collaboration of the Department of Sports, by the Rotary Club of Benidorm. It has had the participation of TM Benidorm, the Benidorm Foietes adapted football team, the adapted centres of La Nucía and 'El Faro' of l'Alfàs del Pi, and the Benidorm Athletics Club, and the technical organization of Grupo Brotons.
There were 675 registered, 220 in the runners category, 115 in Nordic walking and 340 children. Among them are Benidorm's mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Sports Councilor, Javier Jordá.
With some delay, Toni Pérez and Javier Jordá, together with Juan Ángel Ferrer, president of Rotary Club Benidorm, and Juan Manuel López, from Doble Amor, sounded the horn that initiated the start of the race. A little later it was the turn of Nordic walking and hiking and, finally, children's races.
Among the registered people, a good part of the municipal corporation, the government team: the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángela Zaragozí, and the opposition groups. Likewise, the regional deputies José Ramón González de Zárate, Manuel Pérez Fenoll and Mario Villar.
Juanan Fernández, from the Benidorm Athletics Club, as on previous occasions, was the first to cross the finish line, with a time of 18:28, in second place, Rubén Caballero, with 19:05 and in third, Adrián Fortuno , with 19:07, both also from CA Benidorm.
In women, Nicole Kronsbein, from CA Castalla, crossed the finish line with 22:50, followed by Mónica Doménech (independent), with 29:03 and Ana Alfado, from Alphas Winmming Poll, with 32:39.
The benefits of this activity will be used to finance the activities carried out by the Double Love Association in the defence, protection and training of people with intellectual disabilities, which serves not only Benidorm but also many people in the province.
