The workers, under 30 years of age, have served in different departments and municipal buildings

The 57 young participants of the Empuju program finish their annual contract with the City Council

30 November 2022
Programa EMUJU

The 57 young people under the age of 30 hired for a year by the City Council within the framework of the Empuju program have finished their services today in the different departments and municipal facilities where they have been carrying out their work over the last twelve months. The councillor of Employment and Local Promotion, Mónica Gómez, recalled that "these contracts were included in the great municipal employment plan promoted for 2021 and 2022 by the City Council, which had European funds and through which the labor market was incorporated to 141 unemployed people from Benidorm of all ages, who for 12 months have done work of general and social interest”.

Gómez recalled that "with this program, co-financed by LABORA, 16 workers were hired to carry out maintenance tasks in the urban space, thus reinforcing the municipal Technical Services brigades". Among the works we carry out throughout the year is the painting of urban furniture in public spaces such as the parks of Elche, Foietes, and Aigüera; schools; cemeteries; hermitage of Sanç; Levante and Poniente beaches; bullring and streets like Jaime I, Almendros or Ruzafa.

To this maintenance staff are added the two graphic designers, two network managers, and a sociologist who mostly joined the municipal Smart Office; four legal advisors who performed their work in the departments of Secretary, Urbanism or Bussiness license; five computer technicians; an architect and a mechanical engineer.

Finally, through the Empuju program, customer service was reinforced with 14 workers in the Information department, who then joined the Department of the Environment, the Employment, and Local Promotion Agency, sports facilities, or administrative extensions. Six education and free time monitors, and five trade, accounting, human resources, and environment technicians were also hired.

The mayor has thanked all these staffs for "the good work and involvement shown over the last 12 months that, without a doubt, have served to improve their experience and employability".

The EMPUJU program has been endowed with 1.7 million euros, of which more than 625,000 have been contributed by the City Council. The remaining amount, 1.1 million, has been financed with resources from the European Social Fund, through LABORA within the framework of the 2014-2020 Operational Program of the Valencian Community.

In addition to the Empuju program, the great employment plan was complemented by the Ecovid program, aimed at unemployed people aged at least 30, through which 84 people who recently finished their service were also hired for 12 months.
