The City Council has requested a new grant from LABORA for the Empuju 2024 program worth 228,240 euros to hire 16 people for ten months

On Wednesday 7 August, the 33 people hired by Benidorm City Council through the Explus and Empuju employment programmes ended their employment contracts. These workers have been carrying out their duties over the last year in different municipal centres and offices.
In this edition of the Empuju programme, the City Council has hired eight information assistants, seven maintenance workers and a microcomputer systems technician. In turn, the Explus programme has allowed the hiring of nine maintenance workers and eight customer service workers.

The Councillor for Employment, Mónica Gómez, who has emphasised “the great importance of both programmes for job creation in the municipality”, has pointed out that with both programmes all age ranges have been covered by hiring 16 people under 30 years of age with Empuju and 17 workers over 30 with Explus.

The two programmes have been financed by LABORA through the European Social Fund and have been complemented with municipal resources. In this regard, the City Council has obtained two subsidies from LABORA. A first of 258,264 euros for the Explus programme and another of 253,716 euros for Empuju. The municipal contribution for both programmes has been around 300,000 euros.

Gómez has indicated that the staff of both programmes in the maintenance area have carried out “multiple actions” in municipal public spaces, carrying out tasks of conditioning flowerbeds and paths or maintenance in municipal parks. “They have also been in charge of repairing the deteriorated pavement of children's areas, of placing rubber in the tree pits of different streets and avenues and work in the department of stages and assembly of events” has specified the councillor.

As for the workers of the Explus and Empuju programs in the area of user information and citizen care, "they have provided service in different administrative extensions, social centres, Casa del Fester and municipal departments such as the Employment and Local Promotion Agency, Statistics and Registry, Mobility and Social Welfare.

Mónica Gómez has announced, after detailing the functions and duties of the people hired in both programs, that a new subsidy has already been requested from LABORA for the Empuju 2024 program for an amount of 228,240 euros for the hiring of 16 unemployed people under 30 years of age for ten months.
