Each student will receive 50 euros per month to learn in one of the 18 collaborating study academies until June

212 Primary and ESO students benefit from municipal grants for school support activities

12 February 2024
212 estudiantes de Primaria y ESO se benefician de las ayudas municipales de refuerzo escolar

The City Council allocates a total of 63,600 euros to finance this program to reduce school failure

A total of 212 Benidorm students studying the 2nd and 3rd cycles of Primary and Secondary Education will be able to benefit this year from municipal aid for school support activities. The Local Government Board of Benidorm City Council has approved the granting of this aid for the first half of 2024, as well as an item of 63,600 euros that will be used to finance it, as explained by the Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno.

Moreno has indicated that these aids are intended to "reduce the expenditure that families make on the classes that students receive to improve their school results in  academies of our city", and have among their objectives "collaborate with these families and with educational centres in the common objective of reducing school failure.”

The Local Government Board (JGL) has approved today the final resolution of these aids, for a total amount of 63,600 euros, so that each student will receive an aid of 50 euros per month, starting last January and until June 23.

Moreno has clarified that "the amount corresponding to each student, whose names are proposed from the educational centres in which they are enrolled, will be paid directly to the academy where the beneficiary from among the 18 study centres receives his or her classes." This payment will be made in advance as a single payment.

The Councilor for Education has stated that "with these aids, which we are calling for one more year, we ensure that no student in the 2nd and 3rd cycle of Primary and ESO is left behind in their school progression and can continue receiving these support classes.”

Moreno has highlighted “the good reception that this aid has once again had, both among the students and the academies and school centres of Benidorm”; and has reported that "in addition to the 212 approved aid, 58 have been denied for not meeting any of the requirements established in the rules", such as exceeding the maximum income level, not having presented all the required documentation or not being registered in Benidorm.

Finally, the councillor recalled that “this aid for school support is added to the rest of the subsidies that the Department of Education launches each school year to serve the students of Benidorm and their families, such as school transport, for psycho-pedagogical treatments or the acquisition of school supplies for the 2nd cycle of Early Childhood", among others.
