Haigor Aranguren gets his fifth victory in the men's absolute category and Iris Gracia does it in women
178 swimmers complete the XIX Bay Swimming Crossing # Benidorm2021
The weather forecast reduced participation to the XIX Swimming Crossing of the Bay of Benidorm but in the end, 178 swimmers from 60 clubs and a good number of independents crossed the finish line. The test, organized by the Benidorm City Council, is already part of the traditional calendar of summer competitions in open water.
At 08.15 hours from Mal Pas Beach, following security protocols, the swimmers entered the water. Forty-three minutes later, Haigor Aranguren Fuertes crossed the finish line, an independent swimmer who covered the 3,400 meters of the competition triangle in 43 minutes and 8 seconds. Aranguren has been the winner of the last four editions (2015-2018) of the traditional swimming crossing of the bay from the island of Benidorm. Twelve minutes later, the swimmer Iris Gracia García, from CN Master Morvedre, entered the finish line, first classified absolute female with a time of 55'54 ”.
The audience received between applause the participants who reached the goal with a chip and a hat that have been mandatory, as well as the location buoy and the use of swimsuits according to the FINA standard. After passing the finish line they received an individual refreshment kit and a mask
After the test, the winners in the categories were proclaimed at the Club Náutico de Benidorm facilities with the assistance of the sports councilor, Mariló Cebreros, and members of the Municipal Corporation
