The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, highlights the effort of the students, families and the educational community in an atypical course

120 Primary and Secondary students receive extraordinary awards and special mentions for their academic performance

A total of 120 students who have completed Primary and Secondary studies in public, catholic and private centers in Benidorm have been recognized today for their academic performance during the 2019/2020 academic year. An unusual course due to the suspension of face-to-face teaching activity and in which students have had to adapt to new circumstances and teaching methods, as highlighted today by the mayor, Toni Pérez, in the ceremony of delivery of these awards, which it was held in Julio Iglesias auditorium in Parque de l'Aigüera and in which the councillor of Education, Maite Moreno, also participated.

The first part of the event had as protagonists the Primary students of the schools CEIP Aitana, CEIP Ausiàs March, CEIP El Murtal, CEIP La Cala, CEIP Mestre Gaspar, CEIP Gabriel Miró, CEIP Miguel Hernández, CEIP Serra Gelada, CEIP Els Tolls, CEIP Vasco Núñez de Balboa, CEIP Leonor Canalejas, CEIP Puig Campana, CC Nuestra Señora de los Dolores and CI Lope de Vega.

Of these, 25 have received the Extraordinary Prize awarded by the Department to the best records in the Valencian Community, those who have closed their course with an average score of 10. The rest of students have been recognized locally by the City Council on the proposal of the educational centers themselves attending to their academic results.

Secondary students from the IES Pere Mª Orts i Bosch, IES Bernat de Sarriá, IES Beatriu Fajardo de Mendoza, IES L'Almadrava, IES Mediterrània, CC Nuestra Señora de los Dolores and C.I. Lope de Vega has taken over the second part of the act, in which mentions and 6 Extraordinary Awards have also been awarded.

Toni Pérez congratulated the students of the city who have achieved these recognitions, which show "the educational level" of Benidorm. The mayor has influenced "the colossal effort of the families" in "an atypical course", as well as that carried out by the students themselves, the management teams of the educational centers and the educational community.

Likewise, the mayor asked the students and families that during the next Christmas school holidays they continue to "demonstrate the same responsibility as until now" in complying with the health recommendations, in order to overcome this pandemic as soon as possible and that "no one is left in the path, not academically ”.

The award ceremony has been enlivened by the String Quartet of Unión Musical de Benidorm.
