Sport and fun go hand in hand at the 10th edition of 'Hijos de Pedro Alós' beach volleyball tournament

Poniente Beach became the setting for a true sports festival yesterday, once again with the celebration of the 10th Hijos de Pedro Alós Beach Volleyball Tournament, a classic Benidorm summer event organised by Poniente Benidorm Beach Volleyball Club. It was a very special tournament where the youngest members of the club's schools showed off everything they'd learned over the summer. Benidorm City Councillor for Sports, Javier Jordá, accompanied the participants during the final matches, along with Luis Navarro, Councillor for Street Cleaning and Solid Waste Management, and Christian Corraini, President of the Poniente Neighbourhood Association. All of them accompanied the club at the medal ceremony, along with the star of the day, Pedro Alós, a living legend of volleyball and national beach volleyball, who was also present and shared the excitement with all the participants.

From early morning, the U17/15 and Senior Mixed categories took to the sand under a blazing sun, but with unbeatable conditions for enjoying beach volleyball. The group stage and quarterfinals took place during the morning, leaving the semifinals and grand finals for the afternoon.

At the same time, also in the afternoon, it was the turn of the youngest players, boys and girls born between 2015 and 2019, who participated in their non-competitive tournament, where they all emerged champions. They enjoyed an unforgettable afternoon with their traditional serving contest and a great afternoon snack that rounded off their day.

In the U17/15 category, the Benibol team took the championship title, followed by Los Kokitos as runners-up and Los Aguacates in third place.

In the Senior Mixed category, the final was particularly close and exciting, with Los Panchitos ultimately winning, crowning them champions of this tenth edition. Albertitos Team finished second, and Los Princesos took third place.

The atmosphere was unbeatable throughout the day and into the final stretch of the tournament. The Sports Councillor publicly congratulated the club for organising this tournament, "a day full of sport and fun, which also reflects the good work of this club throughout the year."
