Skyline Benidorm Film Festival opens entries for Shortpitch 2026
The projects must include at least 50% of the filming taking place in the city
Skyline Benidorm Film Festival has opened submissions today for its Shortpitch, the professional section that, edition after edition, has become a true launching pad for short film projects in Spain. According to the organisers, the call for entries will be open from February 2nd to March 2nd, in the year the festival celebrates its 10th anniversary.
Born as a commitment by the festival to create an intimate, realistic, and useful space for filmmakers in the development stage, the Shortpitch has evolved over its seven editions to become one of the most highly valued activities within Skyline. It is a section aimed at projects that need a final professional push to become feature films.
The festival, directed by Beatriz Hernández, has noted that the winning project will receive a package of professional services covering all essential phases of production, from legal and accessibility advice to distribution, sustainability, DCP, insurance, and technical support. A set of tools designed to ensure the smooth progress of short films, supported by specialised companies that have collaborated with the section for years.
The complete Shortpitch competition rules can be found at: https://skylinefest.es/bases-e-inscripcion-2026/
Requirement: Film in Benidorm, feature Benidorm
The Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, stated that “Shortpitch is a great opportunity for filmmakers, as well as a showcase for Benidorm, since, as the rules stipulate, projects must include at least 50% of filming in Benidorm, whose visual identity has become a fundamental part of Skyline.” In this way, “the city and cinema further strengthen their ties.”
Selection and Final Pitch
The festival committee will select a small number of projects to participate in the final pitch, which will take place during the 10th edition of the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival, from April 18 to 25, 2026. The project leaders will present their projects to a professional jury, which will evaluate both the creative proposal and its production feasibility. The jury's decision will be final.
A Decade Promoting Short Films
In just ten years, the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival has gone from being an emerging initiative to establishing itself as a leading short film festival in Spain. A qualifier for the Goya Awards since 2023, the festival has created industry spaces such as PRISMA, expanded its programming, professionalised its parallel activities, and strengthened its commitment to emerging talent, training, and internationalisation.
Throughout this journey, Shortpitch has played a key role: a window where producers, directors, and new creators find a real context to boost their projects, connect with professionals, and access resources that are normally inaccessible at an early stage.
