Rafael Alemany Ferrer will be the Master of ceremonies in the performance of the Town Charter in the '700 Anniversary'

Rafael Alemany Ferrer, emeritus professor at the University of Alicante, will host the Benidorm Town Charter performance, which will be held next Saturday and even more special this year as it commemorates the 700th anniversary. The mayor of the city, Toni Pérez, and the councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, today welcomed representatives from the Town Charter Group of the Verge del Sofratge Penyes Association and the host of this event. The event will share some details about the organisation of the performance, which will take place from 9:30 p.m. in Plaça de Sant Jaume, just a few meters from the castle where the homes of what was the first Benidorm were built in 1325.
Toni Pérez congratulated Rafael Alemany Ferrer on his selection as the event's host and emphasised that "without his passion for learning more about the Carta de Poblament of 1325, we would probably be unaware of many aspects of this document so important to the history of our city."
Rafael Alemany Ferrer, a PhD in Hispanic Philology and professor of Catalan Philology, is the honorary president of the "700th Anniversary Commission," established by the City Council and approved by the municipal plenary session to design and coordinate all the events taking place to commemorate this anniversary. Author of more than one hundred and fifty scientific publications dedicated mainly to the study of the Valencian classics of the 15th century (Ausiàs March, Tirant lo Blanc, Isabel de Villena and Joan Roís de Corella), he has also been director or co-director of a dozen research projects, as well as eight doctoral theses and more than twenty final degree, master's or similar projects related to medieval Catalan literature. He was also a member of the Acadèmia Valenciana de la Llengua and other scientific and cultural institutions. At the local level, he has participated in and/or coordinated research projects, exhibitions and other activities like Benidorm Town Charter or the image of the Virgen del Sufragio.
