Joana Biarnés’ ‘Street Fashion’ Show at Benidorm Virtual

19 February 2026
Desfile de ‘Moda a pie de calle’ de Joana Barniés en el Benidorm Virtual

Biarnés passed away in 2018 and is considered the first Spanish female photojournalist

‘Moda a pie de calle’, the exhibition of renowned photojournalist Joana Biarnés (1935-2018), which was on display at Boca del Calvari museum from July 3rd to October 19th of last year, can now be enjoyed permanently from anywhere in the world thanks to Benidorm Virtual.

The Councillor for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Ana Pellicer, announced the addition of the exhibition of this "pioneering woman in Spanish journalism" and specified that it includes "more than one hundred photographs that show the evolution of fashion and society during a time of significant change." In addition to the 100 images and labels available online, there are 20 360º images and 3 videos so that visitors can "can enjoy our museum and the artist, just as thousands of people did during the summer," Pellicer explained.

The original exhibition was curated by art and fashion historian and critic Josep Casamartina in collaboration with the Photographic Social Vision Foundation. This organisation champions the social value of documentary photography and safeguards and promotes the Joana Biarnés Archive. In addition to Benidorm, "Street-Level Fashion," which has previously toured Tarragona, Terrassa, Madrid, and Teruel, now returns to our city virtually.

Accessing Benidorm Virtual "is very simple," Pellicer reminds us. All you need is a mobile phone, tablet, computer, or virtual reality headset to access www.benidormvirtual.com. Once there, under the "Exhibitions" tab, you'll find all the available tours, including "Moda a pie de calle."

Benidorm Virtual is the tool the City Council is making available to those who cannot physically access the museum, such as people with reduced mobility, in line with Benidorm's accessibility and inclusivity policies, and to anyone who wants to explore the city from anywhere in the world.

In addition to Boca del Calvari exhibitions, Benidorm Virtual offers a tour of the 18th-century Church of Sant Jaume i Santa Anna, and plans are underway to incorporate other significant buildings in the city soon.
