The International Organ Festival returned to Benidorm yesterday with the students' performance from Alicante Professional Music Conservatory

02 May 2024
El festival Internacional de Órgano volvió ayer a Benidorm de la mano de los alumnos del Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Alicante

The XII Benidorm International Organ Festival returned to the scene yesterday with a concert by the students of the organ speciality of the 'Guitarrista José Tomás' Professional Conservatory of Music in Alicante. The concert, as usual, was held in the parish church of San Jaime at 8 p.m. with a large audience.

The program was very varied and included the works of 'Praeludium in C' by Johann Speth, performed by Jorge Abad. It was followed by César Franck's 'Prelude, Fugue and Variation', with Isabel Seva on the organ. Attendees then listened to the work of Johann Sebastian Bach's Toccata and Fugue in E' by Manuel Torno. They immediately followed by the Choral Prelude 'Christ, the one given to us' with Cristina Cámara on the organ.

The next piece was 'Lohengrin WWV 75' by Richard Wagner, performed by Benantzi Bilbao. Once again a work by Bach was performed, in this case, the 'Prelude and Fugue in G' by Manuel García and the concert ended with the work by Theodore Dubois 'Toccata in G major' by Juan Carlos Soler.

The 'Guitarrista José Tomás Professional Conservatory of Music has become an important institution in the Alicante cultural panorama and has a staff of more than 70 teachers for the more than 600 enrolled students.
