Educació convoca ajudes per a contribuir a les classes de reforç de l'alumnat de Primària i Secundària...

The families will allocate the amount of the aid to the payment of the classes that the students receive in academies or study centers in Benidorm

The Department of Education has convened a new line of grants to contribute to the classes of school reinforcement of the students of 2nd and 3rd cycle of Primary and Secondary of the public and catholic centers of the city. The Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno, has specified that "these aids are aimed especially at families in Benidorm with fewer resources and those whose children require educational reinforcement, derived, for example, from not having been able to continue during the past lock down the normal development of the online classes offered by the centers due to the lack of technological means ”.

Moreno explained that "these grants are integrated into the municipal project 'Activem els col·les' that proposes supplementary activities and educational support for the 2020/2021 academic year, and in which the departments of Education, Culture and Sports are involved" .

The person in charge of Education has specified that "97,800 euros have been consigned for these grants, 50% financed by the City Council and by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports"; and has detailed that "we estimate that with them it will be possible to serve around 300 families in Benidorm."

The maximum amount of the grant will be 50 euros per month during the first semester of 2021. The beneficiary families must allocate this grant to the payment of the classes that the student receives at the academy or private study centers of their choice. As established by the bases published today in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP), the classes must be one hour long and their frequency of at least two weekly sessions.

The beneficiaries of the grant must meet the following requirements: be the family unit registered and residing in Benidorm uninterruptedly prior to September 1, 2019; have a favorable report from the Guidance Team of the educational center; and not exceed the maximum income thresholds set by the Department for school dining grants.

The councillor of Education has remarked that “the teaching teams are the ones who best know the reality of their centers; They know which students have educational deficits, socioeconomic disadvantages and a good predisposition to follow support classes. For this reason, we have asked the centers to participate in this initiative and make it reach the school population that requires it ”.

After publication in the BOP, families have 10 working days to submit their application to the Department of Education. The deadline ends on December 9. The bases, requirements and documentation to be provided can be consulted in the ‘Ayudas’ section of the Education department on the municipal website www.benidorm.org. Among the documentation to present is the budget of the collaborating academy.

Psychopedagogical treatments

Also the Local Government Board (JGL) has approved the bases of the grant that annually summons the Department of Education for psychopedagogical treatments. These grants "are aimed at collaborating with the expenses made by families in the private treatments received by schoolchildren from the city's colleges and institutes, registered in Benidorm, who have learning or behavioral difficulties and / or disorders".

Moreno has detailed that "in the 2021 budget we are going to reserve an item of 120,000 euros for these grants, 10,000 euros more than this year" and "with a maximum monthly amount that can reach 135 euros." The treatments that can be paid for with these grants are those aimed at overcoming reading-writing and / or learning difficulties, improving oral language, treating school maladjustment and behavior disorders; as well as early stimulation in cases outside the Association's Early Attention service. In addition, as a novelty, this year it is also planned to attend students with high intellectual abilities.

Applications can be submitted at the office of the Youth Information Center (CIJ) and the deadline ends on December 7. The bases, requirements and documentation to be provided can be consulted in the ‘Ayudas’ section of the Education department on the municipal website www.benidorm.org
