This afternoon the events of the 279th anniversary follow with the traditional pilgrimage and offering of flowers in honor of the Mare de Déu del Sofratge
At dawn hundreds of people remember the arrival of the patroness
At dawn, as every March 16, hundreds of people have gathered at the doors of the church of Sant Jaume and Santa Anna to commemorate the arrival of the patroness saint, Mare de Déu del Sofratge, 279 years ago. At 0530 hours, the sculpture of the patroness saint has come to the doors of the church, where four 'copletes', traditional songs, have been sung in her honor.
Carried by the Mayor Toni Pérez, and the Queens of the Festes Majors Patronals, Marina Carrillo and Paula Mayor, the image of the patroness has crossed Sant Jaume Square. The following person to carry the Mare de Deu have been the Fiestas councilman, Jesús Carrobles, and the president of the Comission of Festes 2019, Roberto Carretero. This afternoon, the events of the 279th anniversary continue with the presentation of the Standard Bearer of the 2019 Committee and the new honorary members. In the afternoon, the traditional procession and an offering will be held in honor of the Virgin of Sofratge, which will start at 18.00 pm on Paseo de Colón.
