The City Council will provide three vouchers worth 10 euros each to be redeemed at participating establishments, with a municipal investment of 2.1 million euros
This Christmas, Benidorm will have a new edition of local shopping vouchers for 70,929 registered residents
Mayor Toni Pérez announces that the goal of this new #BenidormTeDaMás campaign is to achieve a direct impact of €5 million on the local community.
Benidorm City Council will launch a new #BenidormTeDaMás consumer voucher campaign next December. This campaign will once again be universal for 70,929 citizens registered before October 1, 2025, and who will turn 18 before December 31 of this year. The city's mayor, Toni Pérez, announced today the launch of this new edition, the sixth since 2020, which, as in previous years, will run from December 15 to 31 to promote and encourage shopping at local businesses during the "optimal time for commercial revitalisation," Christmas time.
According to the mayor, Benidorm City Council will promote a municipal investment of €2,108,760 to finance this campaign, which is expected to have a direct impact on the city's business community of €5 million. That is, "for every euro invested in the municipality, an approximate expenditure of 2.4 euros will be made, as has been the case in previous years," Pérez noted.
Specifically, on this occasion, each citizen will be able to download up to three vouchers worth ten euros each to redeem at participating establishments for purchases that are at least double the value of the voucher. These vouchers can be downloaded through a mobile app, as in previous years, and therefore "without having to wait in lines, without them running out early, or without citizens having to pay in advance for these vouchers, because precisely what differentiates our campaign from those of other municipalities that have replicated them is its universal nature," he clarified.
During his appearance before the media, Toni Pérez recalled that Benidorm City Council launched these #BenidormTeDaMás consumer vouchers in the midst of the pandemic, with an initial campaign that resulted in direct aid for 3,000 Benidorm families during Christmas 2020. A year later, these grants evolved into what the current consumer voucher is, becoming universal for all residents registered in Benidorm and over the age of 18, with a scheme that will reach its sixth edition this year.
"Although the conditions have changed compared to those we had when these grants were first launched, we believe that this initiative can continue to contribute significantly to our residents and our businesses," emphasised the mayor, who expressed confidence that it will continue "reviving the local economy and helping residents reduce their shopping costs, which have continued to rise."
Regarding the number of bonds to be issued, he explained that "there is a reality in the context of the Spanish State that does not allow city councils, provincial councils, island councils, etc., to invest their savings in serving their citizens. This means that, for example, in the province of Alicante alone, the treasury surpluses of city councils and provincial councils hold more than €750 million in banks that cannot be used for any action for the neighborhood." Regarding Benidorm, this figure now reaches €13.5 million, "which until now we could use to support campaigns like this, but which we now cannot invest in initiatives to help and support our neighbors and businesses," lamented Toni Pérez.
"And yet," he added, "we can continue promoting this #BenidormTeDaMás consumer voucher campaign because the City Council's financial situation is excellent and because we believe it's a phenomenal initiative to encourage the purchase of products in our businesses, especially essential products, but also to foster commercial activity and joy in our streets during a peak consumer season like Christmas."
Finally, the mayor indicated that once the terms and conditions are approved, all the more specific details of this campaign will be announced, "but we felt it was necessary to confirm that there will be a sixth edition of #BenidormTeDaMás because it was something highly anticipated by our citizens and our small and medium-sized businesses."
