Mayor Toni Pérez explained the urban development of the city and together discussed possible avenues for collaboration between the two cities

Benidorm receives a visit from the councillor of the New York district of Queens, Francisco Moya

26 August 2024
Francisco Moya

Benidorm City Council received this Monday a visit from the elected councillor of the New York district of Queens, Francisco Moya, who is currently on a trip to Spain. The mayor of the city, Toni Pérez, received him in the Mayor's office, where both held a meeting with other representatives of the local government and with the president of  Benidorm Football Club, Jordi Bruixola.

Francisco Moya's visit to Benidorm comes just over a month after the representative of the Queens district and the mayor of New York, Eric Adams, received Toni Pérez at the City Hall of the Big Apple. There, the representatives of both cities already addressed issues such as the similarities in their urban planning model in height, water management, the recovery of spaces or social integration, aspects that the New York councillor has now been able to learn about first-hand.

Likewise, Toni Pérez and Francisco Moya have once again put on the table possible avenues for future collaboration between the two cities, as well as their intention to continue maintaining contact and strengthening ties between Benidorm and New York.

The American councillor, who has presented the Council with an official flag of the Queens district, has signed the Book of Honour of Benidorm, where he has stated that it has been “an absolute honour to visit this wonderful city” and has expressed his wish to “continue working together and unite our two great cities”. For his part, Toni Pérez has presented him with two books of photographs that reflect the evolution of the tourist city, including ‘Three Americans in Benidorm’, and another on the ‘skyline’.
