The base budget amounts to 615,222 euros and the deadline for the works has been set at four months
Benidorm is putting out to tender the contract for the installation of photovoltaic panels in the Poniente park-and-ride parking lot

The panels can generate 462,840 kWh per year and will lead to an emissions reduction of more than 214 tons of CO2
The Local Government Board of Benidorm City Council has approved the tender for the contract to install photovoltaic panels on the roofs of the Poniente park and ride parking, located at the intersection of Puerto Rico and República Argentina avenues.
This project is part of Action 4 of the 2023 Sustainable Tourism Destination Plan, "Verde Benidorm," and its execution will be financed with Next Generation funds under the aforementioned PSTD 2023. The council obtained a grant for this project under the European Union-Next Generation Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, component 14, investment 1, submeasure 2 of the PRTR, in the extraordinary call for 2023. The project was approved last June, and its budget amounts to €615,222.30. The construction deadline has been set at four months.
The processing of this application will be carried out in a standard manner, and the procedure will be open. The award criteria will aim to adapt the proposals submitted to the requirements indicated in the specifications in order to identify the most advantageous bid. Automatically quantifiable criteria—the economic bid—will be scored with a maximum of 75 points, while criteria subject to value judgment will be scored with a maximum of 25 points.
As explained by Mayor Toni Pérez, the project proposes "the installation of canopies over the existing open-air parking lot in the new development of the PP 2/1 'Poniente' to implement a 303.3 KW photovoltaic system for shared self-consumption, with surpluses eligible for compensation through the public grid." The entire photovoltaic installation will be located on the roofs of canopies and buildings, the project states.
Pérez stated that the presented project "improves the energy efficiency of Benidorm City Hall, increasing savings in electricity consumption while achieving a significant reduction in the carbon footprint of all municipal buildings."
A total of 624 photovoltaic panels with a unit power of 540 watts peak (Wp) will be installed. The installation will consist of four independent units and is expected to generate a total of approximately 462,840 kWh of energy per year.
"This would represent a reduction in emissions of 214.52 tons of CO2 per year," the mayor emphasised.
The future canopies will be constructed of hot-dip galvanised steel with a pre-coated sheet steel roof on the top. They have been designed to withstand wind loads exceeding 130 km/h and are expected to cover a minimum of 165 parking spaces. Considering the dimensions of each space, the total surface area of the canopies will cover approximately 1,900 square meters.
