Benidorm holds a participation day as part of the process of creating the Heritage property catalog

Although the public consultation for proposals ends today, suggestions can be submitted during the day
Benidorm City Council is moving forward with the process of preparing the Catalogue of Protected Properties and Spaces with a public participation day, which will be held next Tuesday, May 20, at the El Torrejó municipal center at 5:30 p.m., as announced today by the Councilor for Urban Planning, Lourdes Caselles.
This day "is part of the participation phase that will produce the catalog inventory and follows the public consultation launched to gather proposals and suggestions for the preparation of the document; the consultation ends today, Friday, at 11:59 p.m." Until then, "anyone who wishes to do so can send us their proposals for properties to be included in the catalog through the City Council's e-office." Subsequently, the specialized external team involved in the project will evaluate each of the proposals submitted.
Caselles stated that "the objective of next Tuesday's session is to inform the public about what a property catalog consists of, the different types of protection these documents cover, and other regulatory issues." Furthermore, "as we want the public to participate as much as possible in this entire process of enhancing the value of our heritage, suggestions for possible inclusion in the inventory can also be made during the event."
The head of Urban Planning explained that, when drafting the catalog, the specialized team hired by the City Council "did not start from scratch, but rather began working from the existing records submitted by the Department of Historical Heritage, which are already being applied." In addition to these records, "they are incorporating more recently produced assets into the inventory."
The head of Urban Planning emphasized that "the ultimate goal is to have a rigorous, comprehensive, and realistic technical document" with which to delve deeper into "the constant and tenacious effort to enhance, recover, and protect local historical heritage, which has been a key theme over the last ten years." She also invited the public "to participate in next Tuesday's event."
