Benidorm is carrying out improvement, renovation, and maintenance work on schools and kindergartens worth €168,856

Benidorm City Council has carried out improvement, renovation, and maintenance works at the city's schools this summer, totalling €168,856. Among the work carried out, fences, pillars, and playgrounds have been repaired; a gymnasium roof has been replaced; and floors have been refurbished at schools "where there was the greatest need, either due to deterioration from use and the passage of time, or to adapt them to other projects to improve and complete the facilities," said Education Councilor Maite Moreno.
The city's mayor, Toni Pérez, visited some of the schools this Monday, where these projects are being carried out, along with Moreno herself. There, the mayor supervised the work for the imminent start of the school year, which begins on September 8 for all students in the second cycle of preschool, primary, and secondary education.
Pérez noted that "once again this summer, we are investing in the centres where we have jurisdiction, such as the infant and primary schools in our city, to improve facilities and make these centres more modern, safer, and more habitable spaces for students, teaching, and administrative staff."
Among the works that have been carried out, "in response to requests from the educational communities of the schools themselves," are the repair of the gymnasium roof at the Els Tolls public school, for which a €45,304.67 investment has been made; the rehabilitation of pillars at the Gabriel Miró and Miguel Hernández primary schools, with a budget of €47,311; and the laying of foundations for the Mestre Gaspar López children's playground equipment, for which a further €28,609.26 has been invested. The flooring in the music room at Bautista Lledó Primary School and the fencing of the sports courts in the playground at Els Tolls Primary School have also been replaced, with investments of €8,409 and €9,196, respectively.
Furthermore, during this summer holiday period, new vinyl flooring was also renovated and installed at the Fontanelles Municipal Infant School, with a budget of €2,904. Painting, renovation, and repair work were also carried out at several schools: Serra d'Aitana, Vasco Núñez de Balboa, El Murtal, Els Tolls, Gabriel Miró, and Mestre Gaspar López, as well as at the Caletes and Fontanelles Infant Schools, with an investment of another €27,123.36, as explained by the Councillor for Education.
Maite Moreno pointed out that, in addition to all of this, other electrical, maintenance, and minor repair work has been carried out by municipal Technical Services personnel, at no additional cost to the City Council other than the materials used.
