The mayor opens this congress addressed to Security Forces and Military Units

Benidorm brings together experts and leading companies in the first national meeting 'Drones Policiales 2018'

Benidorm reúne a expertos y empresas punteras en el primer encuentro nacional ‘Drones Policiales 2018’

<p>There are 120 registered and exhibitors of 21 technology companies and police equipment</p>

Benidorm gathers today's and tomorrow's experts and leading companies in the unmanned aircraft sector in the first national meeting 'Police Drones 2018' organized by the City Council, the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), the Local Police and the Sociocultural Association of this body, and addressed to members of the Security Forces and Military Units.

The mayor, Toni Pérez, has been in charge of opening this congress that is taking place in the City Hall. An act in which the Lieutenant Colonel of the Command of the Civil Guard in Alicante, Francisco Rodríguez Lorenzo, and the Local Police Commissioner Carlos López, have participated; and which has been attended, among others by the Councilor for Citizen Security, Lorenzo Martínez; members of the corporation; and the chief inspector of the Police Station of the National Police Force in Benidorm, Fernando Mencías. p>

Pérez has meant that "in Benidorm we were pioneers when it came to incorporating drones to the task of monitoring the bay by the Maritime Unit of the Local Police and our intention is to continue expanding its use in other areas and spaces of the municipality". It has also reaffirmed the City Council's commitment to "update the material updating regulations and betting on the ongoing training of pilots" of drones of the staff of the Local Police. P>

The mayor has stressed that "today, and in the future even more, the drones will play a fundamental role in terms of surveillance and security", and has been convinced that "the exchange of experiences" in this congress between different bodies and security forces "will benefit us all" advancing in the study of "how to improve security from innovation and technology". In this regard, he recalled that "innovation and technology are two areas linked to smart cities and for which Benidorm is firmly committed to the goal of becoming the first certified Smart Tourism Destination in the world. p>

For his part, the lieutenant colonel of the Command of the Civil Guard of Alicante has indicated that the applications made to date of these unmanned aircraft "are the tip of the iceberg", since the future offered by this technology for the Security Forces and Forces and the Military Forces is "fascinating". During his speech, Rodríguez Lorenzo recalled some of the applications that the Civil Guard is making of drones and that are the object of analysis and exhibition at this congress, such as the reconstruction of accidents or the search for people. p>

From the Local Police, the intendant stressed that Benidorm "has already its own regulation" about the use of drones for security prepared "in collaboration with the UPV". López stressed that in order to keep Benidorm as "one of the safest tourist cities in Spain" it was considered appropriate two years ago to include in the service "a tool as useful and effective as drones", which "have already provided important services both in the field of rescue and in the prevention of all types of risks. " p>

In this first national meeting 'Police Drones 2018' ,120 participants have enrolled, and 29 speakers, including agents Agustín Mirete and Francisco Albero, RPA pilots of the Local Police of Benidorm attached to the Maritime Unit . In addition, an area of exhibitors has been set up in which 21 technology and equipment companies will be present.

During the two days of the congress issues on the legislation are going to be addressed related to the use of drones applicable to the Security Forces and Bodies; and about the applications of these unmanned aircraft in the fields of security, traffic jams or the environment. Coordination will also be discussed in emergency situations; and some experiences of incorporating drones into the services of the police and military bodies will be analyzed.
