The fourth edition of Skyline Benidorm Film Festival is going to take place 'online' and with the viewing of the 25 shorts of the Official Section through the Filmin platform, as announced by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the director of the short films, Beatriz Hernández. In this way, the festival adapts to the new circumstances generated by the coronavirus due to the difficulty of making screenings in theaters, joining forces with Filmin, one of the main plataformas streaming ’cinema platforms with a clear commitment to independent productions.
After its postponement two months ago due to the Covid-19 health crisis, the organization and the Department of Culture led by Jaime Jesús Pérez have agreed that the contest be held from July 1 to 12 and, as Hernández has pointed out , “Adapt all the planned activities to the online modality”
The mayor has assured that “for us the bet that the organization of the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival, already become a benchmark within the national circuit, has made to maintain the event and all its activities, bringing the productions to the public and supporting in turn the audiovisual sector at a difficult time.
The festival's director explained that from July 1 to 12, registered users of Filmin will be able to watch the 25 short films in competition for this fourth edition. It is also planned to raffle access passes to the platform.
In addition to the viewing of shorts on Filmin, during the festival there will be colloquia and virtual meetings with the directors and actors of these productions through Zoom. Also, and under pre-registration, online dubbing and fiction podcast workshops will be held. In addition, there will be live on Instagram with directors of other competitions; and meetings with producers who have participated in previous editions of the festival, who will tell about their experience in Benidorm and in the Skyline Festival.
Also in online mode, the 'Shortpitch' will be developed, the great novelty of the 4th edition of Skyline Benidorm Film Festival, with a prize valued at 13,000 euros and to which 11 finalist projects are opting, all of them in the development and preliminary phase. production. Those responsible for these projects must present their works in a virtual meeting with a technical jury, which will determine which of them receives the award for the production of the short film.
